TB-500 is used inconsistently in commercial naming. The selected analytical paper describes an acetylated active-region fragment of thymosin beta-4 and its detection in horse samples. Full-length thymosin beta-4 studies should not be transferred to an unspecified TB-500 product.

TB-500 requires an identity check: an analytical study uses that name for an acetylated seven-amino-acid fragment, while full-length thymosin beta-4 has 43 amino acids. These are different substances.[1][2]

The studied TB-500 fragment is acetylated LKKTETQ, corresponding to thymosin beta-4 residues 17–23. Confirm sequence and modification instead of equating every TB-500 label with full-length thymosin beta-4.[1][2]

The fragment paper describes detection in equine samples. A separate human eye-drop trial studied full-length thymosin beta-4.
