Peptides with an FDA-approved medicine
Each compound shares its active ingredient (or active moiety) with the medicine named; the approval covers that manufacturer’s formulation, labelling and indication. Research-labelled listings compared on PeptideTech are not these medicines and are not FDA-approved drugs.

Drugs@FDA lists no NDA, BLA or ANDA with these active ingredients under the names searched. An investigational compound can still be in clinical trials; a registration is not an approval.
Questions
Which peptides are FDA approved?
Of the 28 compounds PeptideTech has checked in Drugs@FDA, 11 peptides share an active ingredient with an FDA-approved medicine: Liraglutide (Victoza and Saxenda), Melanotan-1 (Scenesse), Oxytocin (Pitocin), Bremelanotide (Vyleesi), Semaglutide (Ozempic, Rybelsus and Wegovy), Elamipretide (Forzinity), Tesamorelin (Egrifta), Tirzepatide (Mounjaro and Zepbound) and Triptorelin (Trelstar and Triptodur) are marketed, and Gonadorelin (Factrel and Lutrepulse Kit) and Sermorelin (Geref) were approved but are now listed as discontinued. Drugs@FDA lists no approved application for 15 other checked compounds, including BPC-157, Retatrutide, Ipamorelin and Ibutamoren. A research-labelled listing is never the approved medicine (checked October 7, 2026).
Are research peptides FDA approved?
No. A product sold as a research-use-only peptide is not an FDA-approved drug, even when its active ingredient is also the active ingredient of an approved medicine. Approval covers a specific manufacturer, formulation, labelling and indication; it does not transfer to a research-labelled vial.
Is BPC-157 FDA approved?
No. Drugs@FDA lists no NDA, BLA or ANDA with BPC-157 as an active ingredient (names searched: BPC-157, BPC 157, BEPECIN; checked October 7, 2026). ClinicalTrials.gov lists 3 registered studies naming it as an intervention, which describe protocols rather than approvals.
Is Retatrutide FDA approved?
No. Drugs@FDA lists no NDA, BLA or ANDA with retatrutide as an active ingredient (names searched: RETATRUTIDE, LY3437943; checked October 7, 2026). ClinicalTrials.gov lists 34 registered studies naming it as an intervention, which describe protocols rather than approvals.
Is Ipamorelin FDA approved?
No. Drugs@FDA lists no NDA, BLA or ANDA with ipamorelin as an active ingredient (names searched: IPAMORELIN, IPAMORELIN ACETATE; checked October 7, 2026). ClinicalTrials.gov lists 2 registered studies naming it as an intervention, which describe protocols rather than approvals.
Method
Each compound’s active ingredient was mapped by an editor to the exact Drugs@FDA ingredient strings, and an application is listed only when every product in it contains only that ingredient and it has an approved original submission. Combination products, over-the-counter monograph listings and different identities are excluded. Marketing status, brand names, sponsors and approval dates come from Drugs@FDA via openFDA.
